  • The Seahawks were on bye last week, holding their position atop their division at 5-2.
  • Washington struggled to keep up with the Chiefs on Sunday, losing by a score of 28-7.
  • These two teams last met on November 12, 2023 in a game that the Seahawks won 29-26.

The Seahawks and Commanders meet in an NFC clash this week. Seattle is well-rested and has been playing well, claiming an advantage over the stumbling Commanders, even in Washington.

Seahawks Sit Atop NFC West

Seattle had the week off to rest and prepare for this game. They continue to lead the NFC West thanks to some impressive offensive performance. WR Jaxson Smith-Njigba leads the league in receiving yards with 819 yards in 7 games, on pace to reach 1,989 yards by the end of the season. Smith-Njigba will look to take advantage of Washington's shaky secondary this week as he races towards the 2,000 yard threshold.

Commanders Seeking to Heat Up

Washington dropped to 3-5 on Sunday after taking their third loss in a row. They were thoroughly overwhelmed by the Chiefs and now have a loss total that matches last season's. The NFC Wild Card race is still wide open in Week 9, but the Commanders need QB Jayden Daniels and WRs Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel to stay healthy to give them any chance of competing with playoff teams moving forward.

Seahawks vs Commanders NFL Pick

It's a bit surprising to see the Seahawks favored by so little against the struggling Commanders, but they do have to travel quite a distance to get to DC. Jetlag aside, it's likely that Seattle will have the advantage here. Whether or not Jayden Daniels is able to make his return will make a difference, but not enough to give Washington enough juice to take down the 5-2 Seahawks. Seattle should win this by a TD or more.
