  • Miami stunned Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl, defeating them by a score of 24-14.
  • Ole Miss avenged their loss to Georgia, taking them down 39-34 in the Sugar Bowl.
  • These two teams last faced off on October 26, 1951, in a game that Miami won 20-7.

Miami and Ole Miss meet in the CFP Semifinals on Thursday. Ole Miss enters as the underdog and the SEC's last hope at having a team in the Finals this year. This one should come down to the wire.

Miami Looks to Continue Cinderella Run

Miami was within a hair's breadth of missing the CFP, leaping into the field in the final week. At first, it was a peculiar decision seemingly motivated by Duke winning the ACC and creating the possibility of zero bids from the conference. However, the Hurricanes have quieted doubters since then, proving they are the real deal on defense after outscoring Texas A&M and Ohio State 34-17. They need to heat up on offense this week.

Ole Miss and Trinidad Chambliss are Red-Hot

Ole Miss managed to avenge their sole loss from earlier in the season to Georgia. They took advantage of the neutral field after losing on the road, posting another thrilling result in a similarly high-scoring game. QB Trinidad Chambliss, who recently committed to returning for a 6th year of eligibility, attempted 46 passes in an excellent performance against Georgia. They'd benefit from a more balanced offensive plan in this game.

#10 Miami vs #6 Ole Miss NCAAF Pick

Not many people expected Miami and Ole Miss to be facing off in this game, with many picking both Ohio State and Georgia to advance. Seeking their first CFP title of the modern era, or at all, both teams enter this game with a chip on their shoulder. Ole Miss' offense against Miami's defense is one of the best matchups of the season. I see the dam breaking for the Hurricanes late in the game, allowing the Rebels to win this game.
