The Texas Longhorns are coming off an upset victory and now take on the Gonzaga Bulldogs at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. Gonzaga is favored to win, but it will need to be wary of a motivated Texas team looking to pull off its second straight upset.

The Texas Longhorns pulled off an impressive upset over BYU, winning 79-71 behind Matas Vokietaitis’ 23 points and 16 rebounds. Despite AJ Dybantsa’s 35 points, Texas was able to control the game from the very beginning and hold the lead throughout.

Now, Texas faces another tough challenge: taking down Gonzaga. The Longhorns will need a big performance from Dailyn Swain to give themselves a strong chance at pulling off another win, especially against Gonzaga’s tough defense.
Gonzaga came away with what looked like a comfortable win, but Kennesaw State was within three possessions with just a couple of minutes remaining. The Bulldogs will need to start faster against Texas so they can avoid unnecessary pressure late in the game.
Gonzaga also needs to significantly improve its shooting after hitting just 40% from the field and 17% from three-point range against Kennesaw State. Another poor shooting performance could mean an early exit from March Madness.
The Bulldogs enter this game as 4.5-point favorites. They are listed at -245 on the moneyline, while Texas comes in at +200. The over/under for the game is set at 147.5. Historically, No. 11 seeds upset No. 3 seeds around 30% of the time.
We were not entirely impressed with Gonzaga in its first game, so we are leaning toward Texas advancing to the Sweet Sixteen in this matchup. Gonzaga need increased shooting efficiency to improve its chances. The pressure is on the Bulldogs to respond.
