We have a 1st Round Big Ten Tournament game between the Maryland Terrapins and the Oregon Ducks at the United Center in Chicago. Both teams are very unlikely to make the NCAA Tournament, but they will try to make a run in the Big Ten for a chance to reach March Madness.

The Maryland Terrapins have had a disastrous season, with an 11-20 record and a 4-16 mark in Big Ten play. They are 3-7 in their last 10 games and are currently on a four-game losing streak. Their March Madness odds are extremely low, and they will likely need to make a solid run in the Big Ten Tournament to be considered.

One of their worst team stats is their inability to generate offense, as they are averaging only 10.5 assists per game, one of the worst marks in the nation. Their main strength compared to Oregon will be their ability to do some damage on the offensive glass, as the Ducks are a poor rebounding team. Because of that, Maryland could be productive in second-chance points.
Oregon was slightly better than Maryland this season, finishing with a 12-19 record and a 5-15 mark in conference play. The Ducks went 4-6 in their last 10 games, but they have not won a game on a neutral court all season, going 0-4. They have never lost to Maryland and will hope to keep it that way if they want to keep their March Madness odds alive.
Oregon is the better playmaking team, as it averages more assists and has the stronger offense overall. However, the Ducks tend to turn the ball over too often and still need plenty of work on the defensive end. Nate Bittle will need to lead the way through his scoring, passing, and defense.
We expect a tight game between two struggling teams with only slim hopes of staying alive in the March Madness picture. Oregon is a slight favorite at -3.5 on the spread. The over/under is set at 139.5, while the Moneyline is +140 for Maryland and -170 for Oregon.
Our take favors the better team, Oregon. Despite not having won a game on a neutral court this season, we believe the United Center will help bring them a victory over Maryland. Our pick is the Oregon Ducks Moneyline at -170.
