A key Big-12 matchup takes place this week between the Houston Cougars and the BYU Cougars. BYU has lose four of their last five games, putting them in a tough spot against a scorching-hot Houston.

Houston continued to look impressive in a blowout win over UCF. They hold firmly onto a 2-seed in the latest Bracketology projections. They rank inside the top-10 in the metrics on both sides of the ball and have been particularly lethal on defense lately. The Cougars have won 14 of their last 15, bringing a lot of momentum into this game. Leading-scorer Kingston Flemings will be looking to build on an excellent rookie season.
BYU has now lost three games in a row and four of their last five. They are in no danger of missing the tournament as of now, but saw their projection in the latest Bracketology fall from a high 3-seed to a low 4-seed. The Cougars will aim to stop the bleeding in this game against Houston, but face an uphill battle. They need their defense to turn things around after allowing over 87 points per game during their recent 1-4 stretch.
Houston and BYU meet this week in a battle of the Cougars. BYU has the home-court advantage in this game, something they absolutely must take advantage of. They nearly toppled Arizona at home, giving them some hope here. That being said, Houston is playing excellent basketball lately which will make them an equally tough test. Based on BYU's recent results, it's not the best idea to trust them. Take Houston here.
