The Pelicans kept it competitive early and trailed by just 4 points through the first 12 minutes. However, Toronto's 25-8 surge to begin the second quarter gave the home team a 15-point advantage at the break, a lead it would not relinquish.
Zion Williamson led a balanced attack with 22 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Saddiq Bey added 19 points on 6-for-12 shooting overall and 3-of-6 from distance.
Houston is aiming for its fourth win in six games
The Rockets ended their two-game skid with a 119-109 victory against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night.
Houston was up 96-93 with about seven minutes left to play. But a 14-3 surge through the midway portion of the fourth quarter increased the lead to 14 points, allowing the Rockets to come away with a double-digit victory.
Kevin Durant was one of six players who reached double figures for Houston. He finished with 25 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds. Jabari Smith Jr. contributed 21 points, 16 rebounds, and four assists.
