The Thunder entered the conference finals after an exhausting seven-game series against the Denver Nuggets. But despite not having much rest, OKC took the opener 114-88.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams guided an offense in which four starters reached double figures. SGA poured in 31 points, handed out nine assists, and grabbed five rebounds. Jalen Williams finished with 19 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
Meanwhile, the Timberwolves’ noteworthy performers were Julius Randle and Anthony Edwards. Randle led the way with 28 points and eight rebounds while shooting 5-for-6 from beyond the arc.
Edwards, who was averaging 26.5 points per contest in the postseason, chipped in with 18 points and nine rebounds on 5-for-13 shooting from the floor.
OKC trailed 48-44 at halftime. But thanks to a 10-0 run in the third quarter, the Thunder took a double-digit lead (76-66) into the final frame.
The home team cruised to an easy victory thanks to a 38-22 scoring edge in the fourth quarter.
