- After dropping Game 6, the Oklahoma City Thunder hope to clinch the NBA title on their home floor.
- The Indiana Pacers look to pull off another upset in what has been an impressive postseason run.
- These squads last played on Jun. 19, with the Pacers winning that game 108-91.
Sunday’s NBA slate features the Oklahoma City Thunder hosting the Indiana Pacers in the series finale of this year’s NBA Finals. Which squad will be crowned as NBA champs in our Pacers vs Thunder Game 7 pick?
NBA Finals Game 7 Preview
After seemingly delivering the knock-out blow against the Indiana Pacers in Game 5, the Thunder failed to answer the bell in Game 6, losing that contest by a 17-point margin. As a result, these teams will now square off in an epic Game 7 to determine this year’s NBA champion.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams combined for 71 points in OKC’s Game 5 victory. While they were the team’s top two scorers yet again, they did not have the same impact.
SGA finished with 21 points and four rebounds, while committing eight turnovers. Williams added 16 points, but his production was a significant drop-off from the 40-point masterpiece that helped the Thunder take a 3-2 lead.
On the other side, the Pacers’ offense looked like a well-oiled machine, with six players reaching double figures. Obi Toppin led the way with a team-high 20 points along with four rebounds off the bench. He also knocked down four of his seven attempts from 3-point range.
Andrew Nembhard added 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Pascal Siakam chipped in with 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
After facing a 10-2 deficit early, the Pacers rallied to take a 28-25 lead by the end of the first quarter. Then, they outscored the Thunder by a 62-35 margin over the next two quarters, resulting in a 30-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
The Thunder won the scoring battle in the final frame 31-18, but the damage was already done, and Indiana coasted to an easy 17-point victory.
Thunder vs Pacers Game 7 Pick
Despite a lackluster effort when these teams played a few nights ago, the Thunder enter the upcoming matchup as a 7.5-point favorite, according to BetOnline. Here are a few trends to consider for both teams ahead of Game 7.
- The Thunder are 17-3 straight-up (SU) in their last 20 games against Eastern Conference opponents.
- Oklahoma City is 4-2 against the spread in its previous six home outings against Indiana.
- The Pacers are 12-6 overall in their last 18 contests against Western Conference opponents.
- Indiana has covered the spread 11 times in its previous 13 Sunday night matchups.
On one hand, the Thunder have lost only two home games this postseason. On the other hand, the Pacers have accumulated several impressive road wins during their playoff run, including a one-point victory in the opener of this series.
This is what OKC has fought for all season: to have the final game of a championship series on their home floor. At the same time, the Pacers are playing with a ton of confidence and have to like their chances of pulling out another victory on the road.
Home teams are 15-4 in Game 7s of a Finals series. However, it would not be a total shock if the Pacers defied the odds one more time.
