Sixers Hope To Avoid Fourth Loss In Five Games
Philly got off to an impressive 5-1 start. But since then, this group has dropped three of its last four games, including a 111-108 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
Tyrese Maxey knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Sixers a 101-100 lead at the 4:54 mark in the fourth quarter. However, Cade Cunningham's three-point play sparked a 9-3 burst for Detroit, as the road team held on for a three-point victory.
Maxey was one of six players who reached double figures. He led the way with 33 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Andre Drummond, who filled in for Joel Embiid, finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Boston Aiming For Third Win In Four Tries
The Celtics started the season with a 3-5 record through their first eight games. Fortunately, things are looking up for this group, as it has won two of its previous three contests. This includes a 111-107 victory over the Orlando Magic on Sunday.
In a game that was tight throughout, Orlando held a slim 80-78 advantage through the first three quarters. Boston led by one late in the final frame when Derrick White hit a 3-pointer to give the Celtics a four-point lead. Then Jordan Walsh knocked down a 3 with 13 seconds left, enabling Boston to hold on down the stretch.
Jaylen Brown scored a team-high 27 points and grabbed five rebounds. White added 21 points, four assists, and three steals.
