Pistons Look To Build On Win Over Houston
After nearly overcoming a 20-point deficit against Chicago in its season opener, Detroit found itself in another competitive battle against the Rockets.
The Pistons led 113-111 in the closing seconds. After Paul Reed blocked Alperen Sengun's shot with 16.4 seconds left, Houston was forced to foul. Cade Cunningham calmly knocked down a pair of foul shots, securing a 115-111 win for the road team.
Cunningham scored a team-high 21 points, along with nine dimes and seven boards. Ausar Thompson contributed 19 points and four rebounds.
Boston Still Seeking Its First Win Of The Season
The guys in green took a 30-22 lead after the opening stanza. But New York responded with a 42-14 burst in the second quarter to take a 64-44 halftime lead.
Although the Celtics trimmed the deficit to single digits in the fourth quarter, a couple of key buckets from Jalen Brunson enabled the Knicks to hold on for a 105-95 victory.
Jaylen Brown, who was celebrating his 29th birthday, put up 23 points, along with four rebounds, and three assists. Derrick White finished with 15 points, four rebounds, and four assists on 5-for-18 shooting from the field, including a supbar 3-for-11 effort from deep.
