Detroit trailed the Wizards by nine points (117-108) with 4:05 left in regulation. But the Pistons scored nine straight points to force an overtime period. And the home team took the lead for good on Duncan Robinson's 3-pointer with 1:04 left to play.
Although he shot 14-for-45, Cade Cunningham produced his 12th career triple-double, finishing with 46 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists, five steals, and two blocked shots. He is the first player in league history to reach those totals in a game since the NBA began tracking steals and blocks in 1973-74.
Chicago Hopes To Avoid Fourth Consecutive Defeat
The Bulls got off a to a 6-1 start. Unfortunately, they have cooled off considerably, dropping each of their last three games. This includes a 121-117 setback against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night.
Despite Josh Giddey sitting this one out with an ankle injury, Chicago held a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter. But Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs finished the game on a 30-13 burst, helping the silver and black come away with a four-point victory.
Kevin Huerter, who was inserted into the starting lineup in Giddey's absence, scored a team-high 23 points, along with five rebounds and five assists. Tre Jones also turned in a solid performance, adding 20 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.
