With its opponent missing several key players the Lakers took charge early. They led by six points after the opening stanza, and increased their advantage to 17 points at the break.
Golden State got within 90-85 after the third quarter. But LA held on for a 126-116 victory, salvaging a split in this home-and-home series.
The offense placed five players in double figures. Austin Reeves pumped in 21 points, along with three rebounds and three assists. Rui Hachimura and Dalton Kinecht finished with 16 points apiece, and Deandre Ayton added 14 points, eight boards, and five dimes.
As one would expect, the Mavericks were the superior team in this matchup. They jumped out to a three-point lead after the first 12 minutes and led by a comfortable 15 points through three quarters en route to a 114-101 victory.
Anthony Davis was one of five players to reach double figures. He scored 25 points and grabbed six rebounds. He also tallied two steals and two blocked shots. Naji Marshall was the standout player for the second unit, finishing with 17 points on 4-for-7 shooting overall and an 8-for-10 effort from the charity stripe.
