One of the games on Monday’s NBA slate features the Miami Heat hosting the Philadelphia 76ers. Who gets back into the win column in our Heat vs Sixers pick?
Heat Look To Bounce Back From OT Loss Against Bucks
The Heat were on a late-season surge, winning six straight contests from late March until early April. However, they have dropped their last two games, including a 121-115 OT loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.
Bam Adebayo put together one of his best outings of the season. He scored 31 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, handed out five assists, and collected two steals. Miami’s big man also shot 3-for-7 from 3-point range.
Alec Burks, who is averaging 7.1 points per contest, logged 24 points and five rebounds, connecting on six of his 14 attempts from beyond the arc.
Davion Mitchell and Kyle Anderson led the second unit with 20 and 12 points, respectively. After the first and third quarters, Miami held leads of eight and seven points, but Milwaukee rallied each time.
In the closing moments of overtime, Kevin Porter Jr. converted a layup, giving the Bucks a 119-115 advantage. Miami turned the ball over on the ensuing possession, sealing the victory for the road team.
Sixers Hope To Snap 11-Game Skid
Meanwhile, the Sixers have been struggling, and that’s putting it nicely. It has been nearly three weeks since the last time this group has a won a game. Their latest setback—a 114-109 loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves—was their 11th straight defeat.
Quentin Grimes was one of three starters who reached double figures. He led the way with 28 points on 55.6 percent shooting overall and an impressive 6-for-10 effort from long range.
Guerschon Yabusele added 19 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Jared Butler contributed 16 points and eight dimes.
Despite their 23-55 record, the Sixers were within two points with 15 seconds left to play. But Timberwolves guard Antony Edwards fought through a double-team and knocked down a back-breaking 3-pointer as the shot-clock buzzer expired, extending Minnesota’s lead to five points.
Heat vs Sixers Pick: Who Has The Edge In This Eastern Conference Showdown?
The Heat are 6-4 in their last 10 games. Although they are ranked in the bottom third from an offensive standpoint, this group is a top-10 defensive team.
On the other hand, the Sixers enter this matchup amid an 11-game skid, and they don’t do anything particulary well. They have the fifth-worst scoring average and rank 21st in points allowed.
The Heat have won five of the last seven meetings between these teams, including all three matchups this season. With that in mind, Miami should come out on top and in convincing fashion.
