The Celtics appeared to be on their way to a comfortable win, as they led 80-57 at the break. However, thanks to a 40-point effort in the final frame, Orlando trimmed the deficit to single digits before Boston held on down the stretch.
Jaylen Brown led the way with 35 points, eight assists, and four rebounds on 14-for-26 shooting from the field. Payton Pritchard scored 19 points, handed out eight assists, and grabbed five rebounds.
Detroit Has Its Sight Set On Franchise Record 14-Game Win Streak
The Pistons started their season splitting their first four games. But now the group has produced a 13-game winning streak, which includes a 122-117 victory against the Indiana Pacers on Monday night.
The Eastern Conference's top team held a 13-point advantage through the first three quarters before Indiana rallied to get within two points. But a missed three-pointer by Bennedict Mathurin enabled Detroit to escape with a win and tie the franchise record for most consecutive victories.
Six players reached double figures for the Pistons. Cade Cunningham scored a team-high 24 points, grabbed 11 boards, and handed out six assists. Jalen Duren finished with a double-double that consisted of 17 points and 12 rebounds.
