Event Preview

The pressure increases on the drivers involved on the NASCAR Cup Series this weekend, as the USA Today 301 forms the opening leg of the round of 12. A pulsating playoff series to this point sees three races to determine the drivers still in contention for the round of eight stage.

This weekend’s race will see the drivers compete across 318.458 miles, which is made up by 301 laps. The winner will be crowned following the final 116 laps, which make up the final stage of the race.

Last weekend was an excellent race for Christopher Bell, as the driver regained his momentum in the post-season. Bell’s win means that he sits fourth in the overall standings, and his position is made only stronger based on the fact that each of the top three finished outside of the top ten.

Denny Hamlin continues to lead the way in the Championship standings, while Kyle Larson moved back up to second despite a disappointing weekend. There was ultimately misery for a couple of drivers at the Bass Pro Shops Night Race, with Alex Bowman and Austin Dillon crashing out of the playoffs.
