Race Preview

The South Point 400 has been staged on the NASCAR Cup Series since 2018, and it forms the important opening leg of the round of eight stage. The pressure will increase on the drivers in playoff contention, with Denny Hamlin currently leading the Drivers' Championship.

He will need to bounce back to form after finishing only 23rd last weekend, but he has finished in the top 12 in two of the last three races.

Kyle Larson remains a prominent figure in the battle for the championship after taking second last weekend. That result means that he has now finished in the top ten in each of the last three races.

Ryan Blaney sits between Larson and Hamlin in the current standings, but he could only finish 13th in the overall rankings last time out.

Christopher Bell could be the in-form driver in the field after finishing third in each of the last two races. Furthermore, he has now finished in the top ten in each of the last five playoff races.

South Point 400 Picks

Christopher Bell's consistency in the playoffs makes him a serious threat this weekend. Bell is within touching distance of the top of the Drivers' Championship standings, and he could move to the summit with a fifth victory of the season on Sunday.
