Event Preview
Important action on the NASCAR schedule continues this weekend, as the 24th race of the season is staged in New York. The Go Bowling at The Glen forms the second race following the In-Season Challenge, with just two events remaining on the schedule following this weekend before the start of the playoffs.
William Byron bounced back to form on the schedule last weekend after winning the Iowa Corn 350 to return to the top of the Drivers’ standings. It was Byron’s first victory since the Daytona 500, and the first time that he had finished in the first three in ten races.
A lot of his leading rivals for the top spot lost ground last weekend, with only Ryan Blaney of the drivers in the top seven places also finishing in the top ten. Chase Briscoe also enjoyed a solid weekend after finishing in the top three for the third time in four races.
Kyle Larson endured a frustrating weekend after finishing 28th, and the pressure will be on this weekend to respond to secure a place in the playoffs. Alex Bowman’s consistent form this season was also maintained after finishing in the top ten for the third time in as many races.
Go Bowling at The Glen Picks
Shane van Gisbergen could be very challenging to oppose this weekend. The Kiwi famously won back-to-back races during the In-Season Challenge, and a return to his favored road circuit layout means that he is the driver to beat in New York this Sunday.
