Kay Adjusts to Major League Life After Japan Stint
The White Sox signed Anthony Kay to a two-year, $12 million deal in December 2025 after he spent two seasons pitching in Japan for the Yokohama Bay Stars.
Throughout the year, he has two starts with Chicago. 4.00 ERA. Nine innings. Allowed six hits and six walks with five strikeouts and two home runs. Still finding his command.
Chicago is hitting .207 with 10 home runs. Munetaka Murakami leads the team with four homers and seven RBI while batting .205. Luisangel Acuna is at .250. Miguel Vargas has seven RBI.
The White Sox have dropped three straight after getting swept by Baltimore. They're 4-8 and sit in last place in the AL Central.
Lugo Continues Strong Start to 2026 Season
Kansas City gave Seth Lugo a two-year extension worth $46 million last July. He's been worth every penny. Through two starts this season, Lugo is 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA. Allowed nine hits in 11.1 innings with 10 strikeouts and just two walks. Zero home runs.
Kansas City is hitting .233 with 11 home runs. Carter Jensen has three homers and six RBI. Maikel Garcia is batting .304. Jonathan India leads the team with eight RBI.
The Royals dropped two straight in Cleveland after winning their series opener. They're 5-7 and sit third in the AL Central.
White Sox vs Royals Pick
The numbers tell the story. Lugo has a 1.59 ERA. Kay has a 4.00 ERA. Kansas City is at home. Chicago is on a three-game skid and can't hit. We believe that the White Sox will not turn their tide on the road. Take the Royals.
