The MLB season continues on Friday, Aug 15, as the Toronto Blue Jays (59-60) and Texas Rangers (60-59) begin a three-game series at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET. Both teams are in a close race for an AL Wild Card spot, which makes this series a very important one.

Toronto Blue Jays Outlook

The Blue Jays are in a tough spot, sitting just outside the AL Wild Card picture. Their offense has been inconsistent, but they are getting solid performances from players like Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Their pitching staff, however, has been a major weakness, with a team ERA that ranks near the bottom of the league.

Injury Update: Pitcher Alex Manoah (shoulder) and several other key players are on the injured list.

Texas Rangers Outlook

The Rangers are also in the Wild Card race and are in a good position to make a push for the playoffs. Their offense is led by Marcus Semien (.284 BA) and Corey Seager (18 HR). Their pitching staff, led by Jack Flaherty, has been much more consistent than the Blue Jays’ staff. The Rangers will be looking to take advantage of their home-field advantage.

Injury Update: Third baseman Josh Jung (hand) is on the injured list but is nearing a return.
