Event Preview

There will be exciting golf action on the calendar in Philadelphia this weekend, as the Truist Championship will be staged at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. The Truist Championship is typically held at Quali Hollow, but the location for this year’s event has been switched due to the course playing host to next week’s PGA Championship.

The Philadelphia Cricket Club is the oldest country club in the United States, and the event this weekend will be held on the Wissahickon Course. This location has previously hosted a number of prestigious events, including the Philadelphia Open and the PGA Professional National Championship.

It would be hard to start anywhere other than Rory McIlroy. The recently crowned Masters champion has won the Truist Championship on four previous occasions. He is the best player in this field, and if at the same level as at Augusta, he will be hard to beat.

Justin Thomas should be well-rested after winning the RBC Heritage. He was previously second in two further events in 2025. Justin Rose is playing at the top of his game at present, and he will be hoping to get back on track following a heart-breaking playoff defeat at the Masters.

Truist Championship Picks

McIlroy is hard to oppose this weekend, but there could be value in siding with Patrick Cantlay. The American has finished in the top five on two occasions this season, and has also finished in the top 15 on three occasions. He is lurking in major events, and he could be ready to strike this weekend.
