Event Preview
The action on the PGA Tour winds down for the 2025 season this weekend, as the Tour Championship is staged at East Lake Golf Club. This event has been staged annually since 1987, but a new format will be in operation in Georgia this weekend. For the first time since 2019, the starting strokes format has been replaced, meaning that all players will begin on even-par.
Scottie Scheffler is once again the player to beat, and the world number one comes into the event in electric form after winning last weekend’s BMW Championship. However, the standout golfer in 2025 will be an incredibly short price to successfully defend his title.
Rory McIlroy has won the Tour Championship on three previous occasions, including most recently in 2022. McIlroy has already won three events in 2025, which includes a mesmeric success at The Masters to become a Grand Slam Champion.
There is a big difference between the top two in the betting and the remainder. Ludvig Aberg has achieved top-ten finishes in each of the last two events, and has achieved that feat in three of his last four starts. Hitting form at the right time, and shouldn’t be dismissed.
Russell Henley is also a player hitting form at the right time. The American enjoyed an excellent appearance at East Lake last year, and confidence levels will be high after taking T15 at the BMW Championship last weekend.
TOUR Championship Picks
At the prices, Scheffler isn’t a backable price. Therefore, the preference is for Tommy Fleetwood to end his wait for a success on the PGA Tour.
Fleetwood has been ultra consistent throughout 2025, and maintained that run when taking T4 at the BMW Championship last time. Deserves his moment in the spotlight, and it could come this weekend.
