Leading Picks To Make The Cut at The Open Championship
The race for a spot in the weekend’s action gets underway on Thursday, as players bid to make a fast start in their bid for glory at Royal Portrush. But, who are some of the value plays in the market to be among the winning Open Championship to make the cut picks?
Jordan Spieth (-275)
Jordan Spieth could be an interesting betting angle this weekend to make the cut. The American’s in-and-out form has been a concern throughout this season, but he does arrive to Portrush after a fine T23 at the U.S. Open.
Spieth has made the cut in all eleven of his appearances at The Open, with his best performance coming when finishing second in 2021.
Henrik Stenson (+150)
While it may be a tall order for Henrik Stenson to replicate his record-setting Open success in 2016, the Swede could be a value play to at least make the weekend.
Stenson finished T13 at the Championship in 2023, and was an impressive top 20 finisher the last time that The Open was held at the Northern Irish venue. He may be one of the riskier plays, but the Swede has made the cut in 14 of 19 appearances at the major.
Haotong Li (+100)
Haotong Li has been in progressive form on the European Tour this season, successfully making the cuts at the BMW International Open, KLM Open, and Austrian Open since the start of May.
Portrush could suit his game perfectly this weekend, and it is worth considering that he has successfully made the cut in all three previous appearances at The Open Championship, including in 2019.
