Event Preview
There is no event on the golfing schedule like the Ryder Cup, and this year, the passionate fans will cram into Bethpage Black Course. It is the second time that New York will host the prestigious event, with the state previously hosting the 1995 edition, which was won 14.5-13.5 by Team Europe.
It has been a busy period away from the course for the team captains, as Luke Donald and Keegan Bradley have made their important selections. The U.S. team has proven performers, headlined by world number one Scottie Scheffler.
J.J Spaun, Ben Griffin, and Cameron Young will all be playing in Ryder Cups for the first time. Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English, and Bryson DeChambeau all qualified on merit. Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay, and Sam Burns were all selected by Bradley.
Luke Donald will once again captain the European team, becoming the first leader since 1993 to retain the honor. As well as Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Rasmus Hojgaard, and Tyrrell Hatton all qualified automatically.
A winning team is kept almost intact, with Jon Rahm, Matt Fitzpatrick, Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Aberg, Sepp Straka, and Shane Lowry all keeping their spots from the success in 2023.
Ryder Cup Picks
A fascinating renewal of the Ryder Cup is set for this week, and cases can be made for both teams. However, there is a solid unison within the European team, and every player comes into the event in excellent recent form. At the prices available, it could be worth chancing the Europeans to retain the title.
