Event Preview
The full attention on the golf schedule will be set on Switzerland this weekend following the conclusion of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. The European Masters will see a talented field involved in Switzerland, with a total distance of 6,824 yards being covered at the par 70 course. A purse of $2.5 million will be up for grabs this weekend.
Swedish star Alex Noren looks like the obvious starting point this weekend. The Swede ended a seven-year wait for victory last weekend after producing a stunning performance to land the British Masters at The Belfry. Noren finished a shot clear of the field, and went five-under in the final round.
There will be additional pressure on a number of players this weekend, as the European Masters gives stars a final opportunity to catch the eye of European Ryder Cup captain Like Donald. Antoine Rozner has been consistent throughout the season on the DP World Tour, and could be a likely outsider this weekend.
Keita Nakajima also deserves plenty of respect this weekend. The 25-year-old ended the British Masters 13-under, and was just three shots off the lead last weekend. Talented major winner Matt Fitzpatrick is a deserving favorite, but it could be worth taking on the market leader this weekend.
European Masters Picks
Nicolai Hojgaard sits in the final qualifying Ryder Cup spot at present, and he could be good value to achieve that. He finished fifth at the European Masters a couple of years ago, and confidence would have been built following his strong runner-up finish at the British Masters last weekend.
