The third leg of a European triple header is set for Catalonia this Sunday, as the Spanish Grand Prix is staged on June 1, 2025.
An interesting race could be set, as the race for the Drivers’ Championship is heating up following Lando Norris’ dominant win in Monaco last Sunday. But, will the McLaren dominance continue at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya?

Event Preview
One of the most prestigious races on the F1 calendar will be staged this weekend, as the Spanish Grand Prix was first held in 1913. A return to a more conventional track should be a big plus for viewers, as the Monaco Grand Prix was largely dominated by teams and their tactical plans to ensure the best points scoring opportunities.
The decision to include two pit stops in Monaco was planned to ensure a better race on the street circuit, but in practice, it led to teams stacking up the pack in order to free up space for the leading driver to make their stops. This ultimately led to a dull contest once again in Monaco.
However, McLaren and Lando Norris will argue otherwise. The Brit managed to finish clear of Charles Leclerc to win the race for the first time, with teammate Oscar Piastri finishing back in third.
The overall picture means that there is a fascinating battle for the Drivers’ Championship taking shape, with Piastri’s advantage over Norris now standing at just three points.
However, it would be unwise to rule out Max Verstappen, who finished fourth in Monaco, and remains within striking distance of the top two in the standings.
Ferrari’s performance improved in Monaco, but they didn’t have the straight line speed to truly worry Norris and McLaren. But, it was a morale-boosting weekend for the legendary team, with Lewis Hamilton also making up a few places after a grid penalty to take fifth.
Spanish Grand Prix Picks
Back on a conventional track will ensure that it will be a fairer fight between the leading teams this weekend.
Red Bull’s dominance in Spain in recent seasons is hard to ignore, and despite being in a slower car, Verstappen has won twice in the last six races. His dominance in Barcelona could be an interesting value play on Sunday.
