Formula 1 action returns to North America in mid-June, as the Canadian Grand Prix will be staged on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
McLaren remain the team to catch, but the change in regulations ahead of the recent race in Spain did little to bring the chasing pack into contention for race wins. Could there be renewed hope at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve?

Event Preview
The tenth stop on the globe-trotting Formula 1 calendar in 2025 will come in Canada, as the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve hosts the Canadian Grand Prix. McLaren remain the team to catch, having won seven of the season’s nine previous races.
Oscar Piastri was our pre-season pick to win the Drivers’ Championship, and the Australian looks like a man on a mission at this stage of the campaign. Piastri has won five races, and has only finished off the podium on one occasion this season. The Australian was professional once again in Spain last time out, as he finished 2.4 seconds clear of Lando Norris.
There was a belief that this season would be Norris’s opportunity to win the Drivers’ Championship. Therefore, losing out to his teammate would be an embarrassing turn of events. The Brit has finished in the first two places in each of the last four races.
The Spanish Grand Prix was overshadowed by a flashpoint between Max Verstappen and George Russell, with the reigning champion deemed to have run into the Mercedes driver, and his penalty dropped him down to tenth. Russell would ultimately finish fourth.
Ferrari have endured a frustrating season to this point, and Lewis Hamilton looked a sombre figure after finishing sixth in Spain. That result means that he is still yet to finish on the podium in a Grand Prix. Teammate Charles Leclerc fared better after acting quickly from a late restart to overtake Verstappen to steal the final step on the podium.
Canadian Grand Prix Picks
McLaren looks set to enjoy another dominant weekend in Canada. Piastri and Norris appear to be the two leading contenders for the race wins, and the former could be the standout selection to extend his advantage at the top of the Drivers’ Championship.
Alex Albon could be an interesting selection to bounce back and achieve a points finish for the fifth time in six races.
