Fight Preview
A date with destiny arrives for Fabio Wardley at the start of June, as he looks to put himself right in the middle of the heavyweight title picture. The British star was originally set to face American Jarrell Miller, but the heavyweight was forced to pull out due to injury.
Wardley decided to vacate his British heavyweight title in March, instead opting to chase the world title. The British star has been dominant since turning professional, winning 18 of his 19 bouts. His only blip came in the form of a contentious draw against Frazer Clarke in March 2024.
However, he quickly avenged that tie after brutally knocking out his rival in the first round of the rematch last October. But, if he is to set up a dream world title shot, he will need another dominant performance in Ipswich.
Justis Huni is a fascinating contender this weekend, having won all 12 of his professional bouts. The Australian-born heavyweight won the bronze medal at the World Championships in 2019, and has since won seven of his fights via knockout.
It could be argued that this is a significant step up in opposition, despite having a perfect record. But, he will be ready for this challenge, having won each of his last three bouts in the second round.
Fabio Wardley vs. Justis Huni Picks
Huni boasts a fascinating profile, and he should ensure that this is a serious test of Wardley’s world title credentials.
However, the fact that he has competed against relatively unknown heavyweights means that it is hard to overlook Wardley winning inside the distance in front of his adoring home town crowd at Portman Road.
