There are few more opportunities on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule for drivers to show why they are the best on the track. This weekend, the penultimate race of the Cup Series schedule is staged at Martinsville Speedway, as the field will complete 263 miles in the Xfinity 500.

It was all change at the top of the drivers’ championship standings last weekend, as Chase Briscoe recorded a memorable win in the YellaWood 500 to claim top spot. The victory marked the eighth time in nine races that he had finished in the top ten spots.

Christopher Bell also closed the gap at the top of the standings after finishing eighth. That result means that he has now finished in the top eight spots in each of the last seven playoff races. However, it was a disappointing weekend for five of the remaining top eight in the standings.

Kyle Larson could only finish 26^th, while Denny Hamlin dropped to fourth in the standings after finishing 24^th. The increased pressure will be on Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano this weekend after the stars dropped to seventh and sixth, respectively in the standings.
