World Cup Group C Teams

Brazil

Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil will be the favorite in the Group Winner betting for the World Cup, but the five-time winners will have questions to answer. Aging stars such as Casemiro, Marquinhos, and Alisson still feature heavily for the nation, while it remains unclear whether Neymar’s return to the squad will have a positive impact.

Brazil’s performances in the March internationals were mixed, losing emphatically against France before beating Croatia. Ancelotti is a serial winner, so if any manager can reverse their fortunes than it is the former Real Madrid boss. However, it could be worth noting that Brazil have failed to progress further than the quarterfinals in four of the last five editions.

Morocco

Reigning AFCON champions Morocco made history at the 2022 World Cup, becoming the first African nation to reach the semi-finals of the competition. Many of the same players will make up Mohamed Ouahbi’s squad this summer. It could be worth noting that Morocco did achieve 19 straight victories in all competitions last year, but their streak was ended following a 1-0 loss to Senegal in the AFCON final (later overturned).

Consistency has continued in recent internationals, recording comfortable wins over Paraguay and Burundi. Their chances will likely hinge on the fitness of key man Achraf Hakimi, who is an injury concern for the Champions League final.

Scotland

Steve Clarke’s Scotland will be making their World Cup return for the first time since crashing out in the group stage in 1998. The Scots have never progressed further than the opening round in eight attempts, but huge positives can be drawn from their qualifying record.

Scotland earned their spot after winning four of their six fixtures, with their qualification assured after overcoming Denmark in a thriller at Hampden Park last year. Key men such as Scott McTominay and John McGinn will be crucial to their chances, while Lawrence Shankland will likely lead the line after netting four goals in 18 international appearances.

Haiti

Haiti will be the massive outsiders in the battle for progression from Group C. Sebastien Migne’s side will be making their second appearance at the World Cup, and their earned their spot after winning six of their ten qualifying fixtures. A notable concern would be their defensive record, as they allowed 13 goals in their campaign, notably against weaker opposition than they will face in the U.S.

Their performances this year have also been flat, losing 1-0 against Tunisia and drawing against lowly-ranked Iceland. They will be up against it in this group, and it is expected that they will fail to pick up a point.

World Cup Group C Winner Picks

Despite being likely to come up short in their aim to win the World Cup, Brazil should have the quality to top Group C with wins against Haiti and Scotland. Morocco look best placed to join the five-time champions, with the Scots finishing third.
