- The WNBA season has hit the 1-month mark, with many surprises so far.
- Minnesota sits atop the overall standings with an impressive 10-1 record.
- The Wings are once again pulling up the rear, currently sitting at just 1-11.
With the WNBA season entering its second month, let’s analyze where all 13 teams stand. We’ll provide a full set of power rankings and everything you need to know about who is leading each team to success.
WNBA Power Rankings
#1 – Minnesota Lynx (11-1)
Biggest Offseason Move: Retained all of core-four (Collier, McBride, Williams, Smith)
Who’s Hot: Napheesa Collier (26 ppg, 9 rpg, 4 apg, 2 spg)
Title Odds: +280
The Lynx sit atop the WNBA standings at 11-1. After coming up short in the Finals last season, Minnesota retained the majority of their roster, allowing them to get off to an even hotter start in 2025. The biggest impetus for their increased improvement has been Napheesa Collier. Averaging nearly a 25-point double-double a game, Collier is the early favorite to win the MVP award. She will be key in toppling the Liberty.
#2 – New York Liberty (10-1)
Biggest Offseason Move: Retained all of big-three (Stewart, Ionescu, Jones)
Who’s Hot: Breanna Stewart (19.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 3.5 apg, 53% FG shooting)
Title Odds: +115
The defending champs retained their most important players, setting them up as the odds-on favorite to win the title once again. The health of Jonquel Jones with be key for the Liberty, as she has been out due to injury. New York boasts the league’s best offense by a wide margin, largely because of the scoring prowess of Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu. The only knock on the Liberty is an easy schedule to start the year.
#3 – Atlanta Dream (8-4)
Biggest Offseason Move: Signed Brionna Jones (13 ppg, 9 rpg) and Brittney Griner
Who’s Hot: Allisha Gray (21 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 4.5 apg)
Title Odds: +3300
Atlanta is off to a good start, holding a +7.8 point differential through the first month of the season. They fleshed out their roster over the offseason with the signings of Jones and Griner, giving Allisha Gray some much needed offensive support. Outside of Lynx and Liberty, the Dream have been the most consistent team in the league. As they continue to mesh and improve, their +3300 odds to win it all start to look juicy.
#4 – Phoenix Mercury (9-4)
Biggest Offseason Move: 4-team trade for Satou Sabally and Alyssa Thomas (14.5 ppg, 9 apg, 6.4 rpg)
Who’s Hot: Satou Sabally (20.5 ppg, 8 rpg, 3 apg)
Title Odds: +2500
Phoenix made some significant moves in the offseason, most notably bringing in All-Star Satou Sabally. Despite a 3pt% drop off from 45% last season to 28.5% so far this year, Sabally is posting career-highs in scoring and rebounding. After playing on a league-worst Wings team, Sabally is definitely benefitting from having a lot of talent around her. The Mercury are a good sleeper candidate to make it to the WNBA Finals.
#5 – Indiana Fever (6-5)
Biggest Offseason Move: Signed Natasha Howard (11 ppg, 6 rpg)
Who’s Hot: Caitlin Clark (21.5 ppg, 9 apg, 6.5 rpg)
Title Odds: +1100
It wouldn’t be a stretch to say the Fever could be deserving of the third spot in these rankings. They went 2-3 with Caitlin Clark out, but are 4-1 in the games that she played. Still, Indiana needs more than just Clark to claim one of the league’s top spots. Bringing in Natasha Howard was meant to flesh out their roster, but it hasn’t worked quite as intended. Now that Clark is back from injury, these next few weeks are key for them.
#6 – Seattle Storm (7-5)
Biggest Offseason Move: Departure of Jewell Lloyd to Las Vegas
Who’s Hot: Gabby Williams (14.5 ppg, 4.5 apg, 4 rpg, 2 spg)
Title Odds: +2500
Seattle has been up-and-down this season, with some great wins and tough losses. They remain firmly in playoff contention at 7-5, but need to find another gear to compete with the very best teams. The health of Gabby Williams, who had a whopping 8 steals before leaving with an injury, will be key moving forward. She has been a Swiss Army knife for the Storm, stuffing the stat sheet while making her impact known.
#7 – Las Vegas Aces (5-6)
Biggest Offseason Move: 3-team trade to acquire Jewell Lloyd, loss of Kelsey Plum
Who’s Hot: A’ja Wilson (21 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 4 apg, 2.5 bpg, 2 spg)
Title Odds: +1000
The Aces have been one of the biggest disappointments so far this season. Their big acquisition of Jewell Lloyd has been a disaster, with Lloyd averaging the fewest points per game since her rookie season. Las Vegas still has solid odds to win it all at +1000, but they need to provide more support to A’ja Wilson if they want to avoid a first-round exit or even worse. Meanwhile, Wilson herself continues to be just exceptional.
#8 – Golden State Valkyries (5-6)
Biggest Offseason Move: Acquiring their Entire Roster
Who’s Hot: Kayla Thornton (14.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2 spg)
Title Odds: +30000
There’s been a lot of ups and downs for the expansion Valkyries to kick off their inaugural season. At the 1-month mark, a roughly .500 record on the playoff bubble is a solid start. They’ll aim to build on that and break past the low expectations of +30000 odds to win it all. With the opportunity to lead a team as the first option, Kayla Thornton has absolutely thrived. She, and the Valkyries, only get better as the season goes on.
#9 – Los Angeles Sparks (4-9)
Biggest Offseason Move: 3-way trade for Kelsey Plum (21 ppg, 5.5 apg, 3 rpg)
Who’s Hot: Dearica Hamby (17.5 ppg, 8 rpg, 4 apg)
Title Odds: +15000
Like Las Vegas, the Sparks expected to improve from the blockbuster trade that netted them Kelsey Plum. Unfortunately, Los Angeles continues to struggle, despite the standout play of Dearica Hamby and Azura Stevens. The eventual return of 2024 1st-round pick Cameron Brink should make a difference, but at this point there appears to be a variety of issues that the Sparks need to address to get back into contention.
#10 – Washington Mystics (5-7)
Biggest Offseason Move: Drafted Kiki Iriafen (14 ppg, 9.5 rpg), Sonia Citron, and Georgia Amoore
Who’s Hot: Brittney Sykes (19.5 ppg 4.5 rpg, 4.5 apg)
Title Odds: +20000
Washington is off to a pretty strong start considering their 14-26 record last season and loss of 1st-round pick Georgia Amoore. Fellow 1st-round picks Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron have helped to make an impact in her absence. Iriafen has been averaging a near double-double, putting her in the running for rookie of the year. The Mystics still need to take a big step forward, relying on veteran Brittney Sykes to lead the way.
#11 – Chicago Sky (3-8)
Biggest Offseason Move: Signed Ariel Atkins (13 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3 apg)
Who’s Hot: Angel Reese (10.5 ppg, 12 rpg, 3.5 apg)
Title Odds: +50000
Chicago has gotten off to a rough start this season, sitting at 3-8 a month in. Despite pretty solid two-way performances from both Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, the Sky have struggled quite a bit on offense. They have the talent to win more games, but they need to develop a more complete offensive scheme. Head coach Tyler Marsh could be on the chopping block if they don’t improve before the All-Star break.
#12 Dallas Wings (2-11)
Biggest Offseason Move: Drafted Paige Bueckers 1st-overall
Who’s Hot: Paige Bueckers (17.5 ppg, 6 apg, 4.5 rpg, 2 spg)
Title Odds: +20000
The Wings recently improve to 2-11, starting to show some signs of improvement. Getting 1st-overall pick Paige Bueckers back from injury has been a huge benefit to Dallas. They’ve also gotten a recent burst from Arike Ogunbowale, who had a rough start to the season. Dallas has struggled to fill the absence left by the departure of Satou Sabally, but is otherwise in better shape than a few of the other teams at the bottom.
#13 Connecticut Sun (2-10)
Biggest Offseason Move: Loss of all five starters (Thomas, Bonner, Carrington, Harris, Jones)
Who’s Hot: Marina Mabrey (17.5 ppg, 5 rpg, 4 apg)
Title Odds: +50000
The Sun lost their entire starting five over the offseason, as rumors about the team’s potential sale and relocation continue to bubble. It’s a tough environment to expect success in, and Connecticut has been about as bad a expected. Their -16.2 point differential ranks dead last. A bright spot for the Sun has been Tina Charles, who returned home for what could be her final season, though she’s struggled offensively.
