Week 9 NFL News and Notes has the Seattle Seahawks pick up a special but troubled talent in Josh Gordon while we might have seen the last of Joe Flacco.

Seahawks Pick Up Gordon in Week 9

The Seattle Seahawks acquisition of Josh Gordon is the biggest news from Week 9. He was let go by the New England Patriots and now Russell Wilson has another very good wide receiver on his roster. At his best, Josh Gordon is a special talent. The issue is nobody knows if and when we’ll see that again.

Seattle head coach Pete Carroll confirmed that Gordon will not play in their Week 9 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccs. The way Carroll spoke, he didn’t seem to be 100% sure of Gordon’s physical condition. He said he heard that he was ok physically but instead chose to talk about how unique of a talent he is. It will be interesting to see how Seattle is able to use him moving forward.

Joe Flacco Done for the Season

Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco has been placed on injured reserve. His season comes to an end ahead of week 9 leaving the Broncos without a quarterback. Rookie Drew Lock has been on injured reserve and hasn’t practiced since August. He is on track to begin practicing in a few weeks as he recovers from a thumb injury but as of right now, the Broncos are in real trouble.

They will turn to Brandon Allen and it is hard to say what that will mean for them in terms of production. Joe Flacco was not having the greatest of seasons in all honesty with only five touchdowns. He has also been sacked 26 times which could explain his injury. Flacco has mentioned soreness in his neck but isn’t sure when it happened.

Flacco Not the Answer

The injury to Flacco doesn’t change much for the Broncos headed into Week 9. Even with him healthy they are not a playoff team. This way they can try and move up in the draft and hopefully get Lock out there for a game or two to see what they have. Even though John Elway made it seem like Flacco was a good fit the truth is he was almost a stop gap. They didn’t want to rush Lock into action and he ended up getting hurt anyway.

This team has to solve their quarterback situation and fast because they do have some good players at the skill positions. They really need to do something about this offensive line though.

49ers Linebacker Out for the Season

The 49ers have been winning with defense and they will be missing Kwan Alexander for the rest of the season. He was one of their big offseason moves and losing him will be a big blow. He is a very talented linebacker who makes plays all over the field. The torn pectoral muscle is a bad injury but they hope to have him ready for the start of next season.
