Event Preview
Competitive PGA Tour action resumes this weekend, as the Sony Open is staged in Hawaii. The high-quality field will be competing across 7,044 yards in their bid to win a share of the $9.1 million purse. Nick Taylor comes into this weekend as the defending champion after beating Nico Echavarria in a playoff last year.
Russell Henley will be a standout selection at the top of the betting this weekend. The American recorded his breakthrough success in this event back in 2013. Since then, he has achieved four top-eleven finishes since 2021. Playing at the peak of his powers, and he holds obvious claims.
J.J. Spaun is another of the most talented American players who will line up this week. Last season was one that he would like to forget, but he boasts a reliable record in Hawaii, which includes a T3 in the Sony Open 12 months ago.
Hideki Matsuyama is another former champion in contention this weekend. The Japanese star won the Hero World Challenge at the end of last season. His momentum will make him an interesting chance, and it is hard to dismiss his claims given how consistently he typically starts a calendar year.
Sony Open Picks
Robert MacIntyre is an eye-catching price this weekend. The Ryder Cup winner will be making his third start in Hawaii, and he was among the most consistent players on the Tour last season, which included back-to-back, finishes at the end of the DP World Tour in 2025. At the prices, he is worth chancing.
