Event Preview
DP World Tour action continues in the Middle East this weekend, as the Qatar Masters gets underway on Feb 5. The field will compete across 7,466 yards, with a significant purse of $2.85 million being up for grabs.
Patrick Reed is a very deserving favorite this weekend, as he has shown some excellent form on course since the turn of the year. The American was a winner at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, before taking T2 at the Bahrain Championship, finishing as the runner-up following a dramatic playoff.
South African star Jayden Schaper typically performs to a high standard in the Middle East. The 24-year-old couldn’t finish any better than T52 at the Bahrain Championship last time out, but shouldn’t be overlooked after finishing eight-under and within eight shots of the lead at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
Jorge Campillo is a player worth considering at a bigger price this week. The Spanish star was two shots off the lead in 2019, before winning the Qatar Masters in 2020. Recent form also reads well, as he finished second following a playoff in 2023.
Qatar Masters Picks
Matt Wallace is our main win play this week, as the Brit bids to bounce back after failing to make the cut in his last two starts. Being back on the DP World Tour should suit his chances, having finished an excellent T7 at the Dubai Invitational at the start of the year.
