Before Betting on Nationals vs Diamondbacks July 23

At 16-28 the Washington Nationals are one of the worst road teams in baseball and boy did they show that on Friday night in a 10-1 series opening loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Nationals managed just 3 hits and the Patrick Corbin $140 million contract continues to look like a franchise killer as he allowed 5 ER over 5.0 IP.

It was a great start to the second half for Arizona, who went into the break on a 3-game losing streak. Of course the big question after a blowout always remains ‘what’s left in the tank’ for the D’Backs offense? Daulton Varsho and Geraldo Perdomo combined to go 5-9 with 5 runs scored from the 8-9 spots in the Arizona lineup so it was a good night top to bottom.

Zac Gallen laid the blueprint with 7.0 IP allowing just 2 hits on Friday night, and Madison Bumgarner (5-8, 3.65 ERA) will try to follow it on Saturday. Bumgarner has a 3.15 ERA at home this season compared to being 1-6 with a 4.71 ERA in 9 road starts.

Anibal Sanchez (0-1, 7.20 ERA) makes his second start of the season after his return from the 60-Day IL (neck). The right-hander went 5.0 IP allowing 4 ER (2 HR) last Thursday in a 5-4 loss to the Braves. Giving up 4 hits and 2 BB isn’t a horrible outing for your 2022 debut, and Sanchez will try to improve on that in the Nationals vs Diamondbacks July 23 matchup.

Arizona’s 10-1 blowout on Friday night is kind of unfortunate, because everybody noticed it and now the masses are racing to wager on the Diamondbacks. The offshore odds have actually lowered the number from Friday’s -151 opener, so be wary. Fading teams after an explosive offensive night has been known to be a very popular trend in recent years.
