The 2024-25 season is one that Man United fans will want to wipe from their memories. It has been disaster after disaster throughout the campaign, but the fans still believed that there could have been a glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel, as success in the Europa League would mark a slightly positive note, as Champions League qualification would have been achieved.

However, Wednesday ended those dreams, as the club were tame in the final against Tottenham, suffering an embarrassing 1-0 defeat against their Premier League rivals. The financial ramifications of no Champions League soccer is a major issue for United, as it will reduce the money that they have to spend in the summer transfer window.

But, could this season be the tip of the iceberg for the Red Devils, and could it actually lead to relegation in 2025-25 for Ruben Amorim’s side? You can find the latest Man United relegation odds here.

What Are The Man United Relegation Odds?

The vast majority of sportsbooks don’t yet have odds out for relegation in the 2025-26 season, as the current campaign hasn’t yet ended.

However, bet365 is one of the few that are already offering Man United relegation odds, and it makes for worrying reading for fans of the Red Devils. Man United are currently as short as +1600 to be relegated next season, making them the 12th favorites for the drop.

Newly promoted Burnley and Leeds head the betting, while Wolves, Fulham, and Brentford are also shorter prices than the Red Devils.

Have Man United Been Relegated Before?

Man United haven’t always been the force that they were during the Sir Alex Ferguson era. However, the Red Devils haven’t suffered the embarrassment of relegation since the 1973-74 season when they lost a staggering 20 of their 42 matches.

That relegation marked the first time since 1938 that the club would play outside of the top division, and the drop was confirmed just six seasons after winning the European Cup.

The Stats Behind United’s Worst EPL Campaign

There is a sense that things could actually get worse at Old Trafford. Questions are already beginning to be asked surrounding Ruben Amorim’s future, and the club also faces huge financial losses on star players, with the vast majority of the squad reportedly up for sale this summer.

This season has been a disaster, and the Red Devils could yet end the campaign in 17th place; just one position above the relegation zone. Amorim could sense this coming, as he reminded fans just months into his reign that ‘patience’ was required. It is also worth remembering that the coach didn’t want to take over at Old Trafford until the summer, almost as if he knew that the players who were needed to suit his style weren’t at the club.

The stats make for miserable reading this season, and none are more alarming than the fact that United have failed to win back-to-back matches throughout 2024-25.

The Red Devils have also gone eight without a league win, and have picked up just 23 points from a possible 87 in matches against teams sitting 17th or higher in the standings. In fact, Amorim’s only wins in the league since January have come against the relegated Ipswich and Leicester.

United will break their record for the fewest points haul in a season since 1930-31, in which they suffered relegation. Old Trafford is no longer the fortress it once was, as they have suffered 17 losses at the Theatre of Dreams, which is the most since their last campaign, which ended in relegation.

Could Man United Be Relegated in 2024-25?

Make no mistake about it, Man United would have been scrapping for their lives in the Premier League this season if the three promoted teams from 2023-24 were of a higher quality. However, the same could also be said for Tottenham, but their Europa League win has raised confidence levels ahead of next season.

Confidence levels will be at an all-time low at Old Trafford this summer, and offloading deadwood in the squad will be the primary issue before incomings are considered. Players such as Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho will all leave the club.

Bringing in the right players for Amorim’s system is essential this summer, and a fast start will be required to lift the pressure on the current coach. While the lack of European soccer is likely to help their league form, based on their Premier League performances this season, things could yet get a lot worse for the world’s most famous club.
