Event Preview
One of the most prestigious golfing events in Africa is staged this weekend, as the Kenya Open takes center stage at the Karen Country Club. This event has been on the schedule since 1967, with the field competing across 7,228 yards to win their share of the £2.7 million purse.
Angel Ayora will be a red-hot favorite for success this weekend. The Spanish star has shown excellent form throughout the season, including most recently when finishing T5 at the Qatar Masters. His consistency ensures that he is the one to beat.
Hennie Du Plessis should also be competitive on his return to the DP World Tour this weekend. The South African was a regular winner on the Sunshine Tour, including landing the Blu Label Unlimited Challenge in October of last year.
Joost Luiten should also be respected in Kenya this weekend. The Dutchman may have finished T24 at the Bahrain Championship on his latest outing, but he shot ten-under. The 40-year-old has been a regular in this event, and his course experience could count for a lot.
Kenya Open Picks
It could be worthwhile to take a player at a price this weekend. Therefore, Englishman Matthew Jordan could be of interest. The 30-year-old has been playing more consistently than his results suggest this year, finishing under par in three of the last five events. His game should be suited to the Karen Course, and he should have the ability to be competitive.
