Revenge is on the menu on Monday for Duke (14-5) as it was Virginia Tech (11-8) who beat them in the ACC Championship game last season, costing Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski the chance to get a conference title in his last year with the team. Last year is in the rear view though, and instead Duke should focus on improving their poor 1-3 road record. VT is a -2.5 favorite at the offshore sportsbooks.

Before Betting on Duke vs Virginia Tech

It’s been a very up and down month for the Blue Devils, who suffered a 24 point loss at NC State on January 4th as -5.5 favorites and lost by 8 at Clemson two weekends ago as -1 point favorites. The conference road struggles go back to last month when Duke fell 81-70 at Wake Forest as -6.5 favorites which is a major reason the Hokies have value here.

Duke does have some momentum after topping #17 Miami 68-66 at home on Saturday but failing to cover the -6 point spread in the process. Virginia Tech suffered their 7th straight loss this weekend, falling 51-50 at #19 Clemson. Va. Tech is just 1-7 in ACC play, while Duke is 5-3.

We will see if Duke’s road struggles are a real thing on Monday night, because for all their struggles in the conference Virginia Tech is still 8-2 at home this season. They also haven’t played at Cassell Coliseum since January 7th, and the student section always gets a bit more amped up when Duke comes to town. The home team has actually gone 9-3 ATS in the last 12 head to head matchups between Duke and VT.

Duke vs Virginia Tech Prediction & Pick

This is a game where you read the line and not necessarily the stats. This has trap written all over it, as the public should be hammering Duke getting points against a team that has lost 7 straight. Fading that play and taking Virginia Tech looks like the correct approach.

Pick: Virginia Tech +2.5
