Fight Preview
A sensational night of boxing action will be headlined by the showdown between Anthony Yarde and David Benavidez for the WBC light-heavyweight title. It will be a first defense of the title for the American, who had hoped to collide with Canelo Alvarez before talks between the fighters broke down.
Benavidez has been one of the most dominant fighters in the world since turning professional, winning all 30 of his bouts. A staggering 24 of his victories have been achieved inside the distance.
The American was previously the WBC super middleweight champion between 2017 and 2020. Benavidez has been the defending WBC light-heavyweight champion since scoring a unanimous decision win over David Morrell in February.
Anthony Yarde will be a huge outsider in this fight. However, he has a proven record in this weight class, which includes holding the Commonwealth title between 2021 and 2022. The British fighter has accumulated an overall professional record of 27-3, with 24 of his victories being achieved via knockout.
Yarde appears to be in career-best form after gaining revenge on Lyndon Arthur in a trilogy bout earlier this year. His professional nature in the ring has seen him dominate his last two fights, but this represents a step back up to the elite level after losing via TKO against Artur Beterbiev in January 2023.
David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde Picks
Yarde has typically struggled against the elite boxers, and that pattern could be evident once again this weekend. Benavidez is one of the most entertaining boxers on the planet, and he could put on a show for the fans in attendance on Saturday by scoring a victory inside the 12 rounds.
