Event Preview
The seventh race of the NASCAR Cup Series season sees the action move to Virginia for the first time in 2026. The Cook Out 400 has been staged annually since 1950, with drivers having to complete 400 laps since the 2022 season. A competitive final stage will see the final 220 laps completed, making up the 210.4-mile race distance.
Tyler Reddick continues to be the man of the moment in NASCAR, with the American winning the Goodyear 400 last weekend to take his tally of wins to four in the opening six rounds. In fact, he has only finished outside of the top ten on one occasion.
Ryan Blaney has also started the season in competitive form, taking third in last weekend’s race, ensuring that he has finished in the top ten in four of the last five rounds. William Byron and Chris Buescher both also achieved top-ten finishes last weekend.
Chase Elliott finished 15th last weekend, while Bubba Wallace endured his worst result of the season after finishing 34th. William Byron’s record in the race should be respected this weekend, having won twice in the last four editions.
Byron has been driving very consistently in recent weeks, finishing eighth in the Goodyear 400 to achieve a third straight top-ten finish.
Cook Out 400 Picks
Christopher Bell is an interesting betting angle this weekend. Bell has a fine record in this race, taking second in the Cook Out 400 last season. He has shown flashes of his best form this term, taking three straight top-four finishes before settling for 19th in last weekend’s Goodyear 400.
