The first Grade One on Future Stars Friday will feature 12 runners competing over a five-furlong trip in the Juvenile Turf Sprint. True Love and Brussels give Aidan O’Brien a strong hand, but it could be his son who scores big prize money in the opening race.

Havana Anna has been an excellent performer throughout this season for Donnacha O’Brien, and has little to find on True Love after finishing second over six furlongs in the G1 Cheverly Park. This drop back to five furlongs should suit the selection better than the current favorite, and she has already won over the distance on two occasions.

The G1 Juvenile Fillies is the first notable action on the dirt this weekend, and bettors will be keeping a close eye on any potential bias that could play a role throughout the meeting.

I’m a big fan of Tommy Jo for the Todd Pletcher team. The two-year-old won the G1 Alcibiades in the Stewards’ Room after Percy’s Bar was disqualified. However, he already holds a clear advantage over the same rival based on his six-length success in the G1 Spinaway.

Next up is the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. This race over a mile for the female horses is likely to be dominated by the Europeans. Queen Of Hawaii looks capable of running a big race, but it’s incredibly challenging to overlook Precise for the dominant Aidan O’Brien.

The two-year-old has been in excellent form throughout the season, beating all of the top juveniles in Europe. She is already a two-time Grade One winner, including a dominant success in the G1 Fillies’ Mile last time out. Incredibly challenging to oppose.

A disappointing field of eight go to post for the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile this year, which could offer clues ahead of next year’s Kentucky Derby. Like the Juvenile Fillies’ Turf, this is all about the selection at the top of the betting.

Ted Noffey holds a huge advantage based on official ratings, and he has stylishly won on all three career starts. His dominant record continued with an excellent win over an extended mile last time out when beating Blackout Time by two lengths in the G1 Breeders’ Futurity. Another strong performance is likely from the Todd Pletcher runner.

The final race on Future Stars Friday will come in the form of the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. While I like O’Brien’s chances in the Fillies Turf, I’m against Gstaad based on the draw and the balance of his chances against this decent enough field.

Instead, the quickly improving Hey Nay Nay could be an interesting selection when making Breeders’ Cup Future Stars Friday picks. The two-year-old has won three from three under rules, and looked hugely impressive when stepping up to a mile to land the G3 Juvenile Turf Stakes over course and distance at the start of September. At the prices, he is worth chancing for John Sadler.
