Race Preview

The action at the 2025 Breeders’ Cup rounds off with the Filly & Mare Turf on Saturday, November 1. As expected, a talented international field of runners will go to post, and a competitive betting heat is expected.

She Feels Pretty will give the U.S. a rare chance of success on the turf for trainer Cherie DeVaux. The four-year-old filly has enjoyed an excellent season, winning three of her four starts. She was a stylish winner of a Grade One in Canada on her latest start, but this is a hotter contest.

See The Fire has hung with the very best turf horses in Europe this season, finishing a very solid fourth in the G1 Juddmonte International, and third in the G1 Nassau. A return to a quicker surface should play to her strengths after winning on her return by a 12-length margin at York in May on good ground.

Cinderella’s Dream represents the all-conquering Charlie Appleby yard. However, the four-year-old could have questions to answer after a below-par effort when third in the G1 Sun Chariot Stakes last time. However, she was a very close second in this race 12 months ago.

Alice Verite deserves a lot of respect for Japanese trainer Noriyuki Hori. She was a Group One Japanese Classic winner earlier in the season, and has very little to find if opting for this challenge over the Distaff. Gezora also merits respect, but she will need to put a gruelling run in the Arc behind her.

Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf Picks

At the current prices, Aidan O’Brien’s Bedtime Story could be the sensible play. She will likely be the team’s first-string given Minnie Hauk is expected to take her chance in the Breeders’ Cup Turf.

The three-year-old has run to great credit in Grade One company throughout the season, including when not beaten far at Ascot in the G1 Fillies & Mares Stakes in mid-October. This is a trappy race, but the drop back in trip should suit, and her form lines are among the strongest in this race.
