The four-year-old has been sensational throughout the season, with his only defeat coming over seven furlongs when beaten a neck by Mindframe in the G1 Churchill Downs Stakes. Since then, he has easily landed the G3 Triple Bend and G2 San Diego Handicap.

Goal Oriented ensures that Baffert has a strong hand in the Dirt Mile this year. The three-year-old drops back in trip this weekend after finishing within a length of Journalism in the G1 Haskell, and taking third behind Baeza in the G1 Pennsylvania Derby. Interesting, but remains to be seen if he is as effective over a mile.

The inclusions of Mystik Dan and White Abarrio ensure that this is a classy renewal of the Dirt Mile. The latter was the winner of the Classic two years ago, and a pace collapse could ensure that his stamina gives him a leading chance.

Patriot Spirit is a fascinating outsider worth considering for Michael Campbell. The pacey four-year-old has been excellent over seven furlongs on his last two starts, and this return to a mile could be an interesting option if he is able to see out the distance.
