Fight Preview
A date with destiny arrives for Ben Whittaker at the end of November, as the former Olympic silver medallist continues his ascent to the top of boxing against Benjamin Gavazi. The 28-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most exciting British title prospects, and he will be fighting for the first time under the Matchroom promotion in November.
Whittaker got his first taste of gold after beating Eworitse Ezra Arenyeka in June 2024, winning the IBF International light-heavyweight title. His only blip came in October of the same year following a draw against Liam Cameron in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, he quickly avenged that result with a stunning second-round finish against his rival in Birmingham in April.
Benjamin Gavazi will provide an interesting challenge to the local fighter, as he boasts excellent power. His momentum is also clear to see after winning each of his last 19 fights since losing on his professional debut in 2018. But, it will only be the second time that the German has fought outside of his home country.
But, just as it does for Whittaker, this represents a huge opportunity. The winner of the bout in November will likely put themselves in pole position to challenge the winner of the Anthony Yarde vs. David Benavidez showdown next year.
Ben Whittaker vs. Benjamin Gavazi Picks
Whittaker has always threatened to be a potential world champion, and this fight will be a perfect opportunity to showcase his ability. Based on his stunning win earlier this year, we expect the Brit to land a dominant win inside the distance in Birmingham.
