One of the standout events on the DP World Tour late in the calendar year is set for the Yas Links this weekend, as the Abu Dhabi Championship is staged. A talented field will be involved in the stroke play event, with a purse of $9 million being up for grabs.

Rory McIlroy heads the betting after finishing in a T26 at the India Championship on his comeback effort following the Ryder Cup. The Masters champion has maintained a reliable level of form throughout the calendar year, having also won the Irish Open and finishing in the top 20 at the BMW PGA Championship.

It could be argued that few players bring better form into this weekend than Tommy Fleetwood. The Englishman landed the TOUR Championship in late August, before playing a starring role at the Ryder Cup. Fleetwood’s red-hot form continued after landing success at the India Championship by two shots in mid-October.

Matt Fitzpatrick could be an interesting selection at a slightly bigger price based on his recent form. Fitzpatrick will be playing in this event for the first time, but he has been performing at a very high level since the start of the summer. Ludvig Aberg’s form has also improved and he is likely to feature in the final round.

Hatton has been in excellent form throughout the summer, and his performances at the Abu Dhabi Championship deserve special attention. He finished as the runner-up in the event 12 months ago, and he was the winner of the event back in 2021.
