A thrilling edition of the Breeders' Cup Classic played out at Del Mar on Saturday, November 1, with Forever Young finally getting his deserved Grade One success on U.S. soil. In an uncanny turn of events, Forever Young led home Sierra Leone and Fierceness, marking the second straight year that the horses had finished in the top three positions in the Classic.

Journalism fared best of the three-year-old crop, while many were left to ponder what could have been following Sovereignty's scratching. Despite being the most talented 3-y-o in the U.S. this season, I still question whether he could have finished in the top two.

Sierra Leone and Forever Young are two of the very best dirt horses in the world, and this past weekend's result only indicates how talented of a crop the 2024 3-y-o actually were.
