How do Sportbooks Set Lines?
I was wondering how each sportsbook sets their betting lines? How do they make them accurate? I'm a little confused on how they choose what numbers to put and when to change them?
Initially, only a few sportsbooks offer early opening lines (with NFL) sometimes a week in adance and often with low betting limits. As wagering activity picks up, these books adjust their lines to even up action on both sides. Subsequently, other sportsbooks observe and follow those same odds, and increase their betting limits closer to game day.
Bookmakers are looking to get even action, this way they earn their 10% Vig.

@donniesports I see! Thanks for the information. Suprising to learn that only a few sportsbooks offer early opening lines rather then most of them.
