The Florida Gators are your 2025 NCAA Men's Tournament Champions! I thought it was pretty interesting to see them win the year after UConn went back-to-back (Florida had previously been the most recent team to win two titles in a row back in 2006-07). Looks like they didn't take kindly to the Huskies stealing that from them haha.
Next year's title odds are almost impossible to predict with the impact of the transfer portal, but let's take a look at the early odds:
Duke +1000
Houston +1200
Louisville +1400
Purdue +1400
Kentucky +1600
BYU +1600
Interesting to see some of those teams so high, especially with Florida at +2500. I wouldn't trust Duke to be the overall favorite with Flagg departing for the NBA, but they should stay in contention. It may be too early to take an educated bet, but a lot of top teams have long odds worth considering (UConn +1800, Michigan, Florida, St. John's +2500, Tennessee, Gonzaga +3000).
If you had to decide today, who would you be picking to win next season's tournament? I'd lean towards a team like Houston with a strong coach like Kelvin Sampson. He will consistently take full advantage of the portal, even as players like L.J. Cryer graduate and move on to the next stage of their careers.
