Rajon Rondo is my favorite player because of his elite basketball IQ, court vision, and ability to control the tempo of a game without needing to score. He was a floor general in every sense, making his teammates better with pinpoint passing and smart decision-making. While Tyrese Haliburton shares some of those traits—especially his creativity as a passer and ability to lead an offense—they're not the same player. Rondo was more defensive-minded and thrived in grind-it-out playoff battles, whereas Haliburton brings a more modern, dynamic scoring touch and excels in fast-paced systems. Still, assists alone don’t make players comparable. That said, Haliburton is far from overrated. He’s the engine behind one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, blending scoring, playmaking, and leadership in a way few young guards can. His impact goes beyond stats—he brings energy, unselfishness, and confidence to a rising Pacers squad. While I’ll always lean toward Rondo’s gritty, old-school style, Haliburton’s talent and influence on the game are undeniable.
