The 2024-25 NFL regular season is just a month away, as the offseason nears its finality. Before the regular season can start, there are three weeks of preseason games to give each team an opportunity to get practice reps in against other squads. Teams will also make final roster decisions based on the result of these games.
When Does NFL Preseason Start?
The NFL Preseason kicked off on Aug 1 with the Hall of Fame Game. The Chicago Bears defeated the Houston Texans, 24-17, but Caleb Williams did not see the field. The full first week of preseason games starts on Aug 8.
Can You Bet on NFL Preseason?
Just like the regular season, there are a wide variety of ways to bet on NFL preseason games. Bettors can pick the winning team outright or based on a point spread, and participate in betting on several different prop bets.
It’s worth noting that NFL preseason games are less predictable than regular season games, since the starters often play limited minutes or rest for the entirety. In the Hall of Fame game, inclement weather forced the game to end with 3:31 remaining in the 3rd quarter, affecting some bets. This also means the payouts can be larger.
