Charlotte Making Reliable Strides

Dean Smith’s Charlotte were one of the most consistent teams in the MLS this season, and they once again look likely to be one of the leading playoff hopes in the Eastern Conference.

After failing to win in the opening two rounds, they have bounced back to form with victories in two of their last three. Charlotte were excellent before the international break, as they recorded a thumping 6-1 home win over the NY Red Bulls. Wilfried Zaha and Kerwin Vargas were among the scorers, while Archie Goodwin also netted a brace. Playing at home suits the team, as they are unbeaten in three at the Bank of America Stadium in 2026.

Union Chasing First Win in 2026

It has been a damning start to the season for the team that won last season’s Supporters’ Shield. Bradley Carnell’s Philadelphia Union have suffered five successive defeats to start 2026. However, it could be worth noting that they have only lost by a one-goal margin in four fixtures.

Despite dominating against the Chicago Fire in their latest outing, the Union were eventually beaten 2-1 at home. One of their biggest issues has been their wasteful nature in the final third, scoring just 0.6 per 90 despite racking up an impressive xG of 1.56. A return to form is likely to come at some stage.

Possible Lineup
(4-4-2) Blake (GK); Westfield, Makhanya, Harriel, Ndinga; Bedoya, Jacques, Bueno, Sullivan; Iloski, Damiani
